Wet Sunday

Hi all,

The dog show on Sunday went really well, and we had over 60 dogs turn up despite the fact that the first half of the day was pretty wet and windy ! I have to say that doggy people are fantastic troupers because even though the weather may horrible they still turn up and take part, which really warms your heart, and actually I think the dogs tend to prefer it a little more, rather than a hot scorching day with high humidity. Again we had a mixed bag of all shapes, sizes and colours, from a Neapolitan Mastiff pup called Nico with absolutely massive paws ( a definite for me to draw ),two newfies Dylan and Skye, lovely greyhounds, beautiful cocker spaniels and springer's with their little funny tufts of head hair, some really super cute puppies, mad border collies, a fair few cairn terriers, two beddlington terriers, golden labs and retrievers, a beautiful gentle goldendoodle, jack russell's, gsd's and alot of nutty heinz 57s, but I loved them all the same. I must also mention the best rescued and re homed class where the stories are so sad and really touch the heart, a very difficult class to judge, but also great to see these dogs with new loving owners and enjoying their forever home. Best in show I awarded to the Golden Doodle as she really was quite something, and it is not often I see this type of dog, and reserve I gave to super little dogue de bordeaux cross. As these dog shows that I do are fun, I try to be fair in my judging to make sure that everyone goes away with at least one rosette, and to pick the dog that suits that class the best. As always I took photos and when I sort out my hard drive will post them up in my flickr album.

That is the end of the dog show season for me now, and this year I have done one every month (some two), from April onwards, and as much as I am sad to see it all come to an end, in a roundabout way I am relieved, as I can now start to concentrate on other things that need my attention.
