Hi all,
Got to own up to being really naughty over the Easter Weekend, the sun shone and I spent alot of time outside, visited the pub with the woofers and just generally lazed around...hence no work or updates ! At the same time as all this, I had an epiphany about paint, and just to explain that, I am not a painter...I have tried all of them and with no success, hence realizing that I am a drawer and lover of Pencils ! Whilst surfing around the net, I came across Rock Art, and wow I was impressed with what can be achieved, so I thought I would try my hand at this. What really appealed to me is that you can be as realistic or not as you please, one can get real creative, using the rocks shapes and contours to create animals, or to do fun funky designs....much more appealing to me than working on canvas with paint. Some of the sites I came across, are listed here, so go check them out, you wont be disappointed !

As this new hobby has kicked in and I need some time to really get to grips with style and technique, I find myself needing to organise my days/weeks abit more effeciently,so methinks I will be making up some kind of timetable lol !
Back with the pencils to day and my rottie, plus I have a few more ACEOS on the go too....phew it is only 7.15 uk time and I have only had 1 cup of tea!
Hi Vic, love the rock art - it certainly is inspiring - can't wait to see what you produce on the rocks. Glad to hear you had a lovely relaxing Easter. Have fun with your rocks!!
ReplyDeleteI'm like you Vic, tried watercolours, acrylics and oils (once each) and gave up. I just don't have the patience where as with a pencil what you see is what you get, the proper colours, the shape and so on, perhaps painters hate pencils because of the slowness (something which does irritate me)! Had a look at the rock art, I've seen them before and they are lovely so I'm waiting with interest to see how yours turn out. What are you going to use as a medium though?
ReplyDeleteGreat sites Vic! I think this rock painting has obsession written all over it :-) We are having some lovely weather here too and it is hard to stay in the studio.
ReplyDeleteLove your dogs. You can tell that you love the work and your dogs. Don't apologize for just taking it easy once in awhile. Inspiration doesn't ask for an appointment - it happens when we are open and just walkin' down the road.
ReplyDeleteHi Karen...I am having fun and am obsessed lol.
ReplyDeleteHey Kari, yep Acrylics are not my favourite medium, but this is the most suitable for rock painting...so different from CPS and alot of faster....but my pencils will always be my numeber one love.
Hey Teresa, I am obsessed...dream and sleep rocks at the moment......so many possibilties.
Thanks A Palmer for your visit, and your right about the inspiration it hits us when we least expect it, but methinks that is the best way.
