More on Lola

Hi all
     Here is a bit more on Lola, although progress is slow due to me struggling a bit with getting her colours/tones right, but so far I am reasonably happy with it. I am still using the same colours but will be adding some Caput Mortuum, Venetian Red, and a bit of Rosy Beige to get those colours around her chops.
      I do have six other pictures on the go as well, and work a bit on each on as I go along, as I find this method works quite well for me, and all are dogs taken from my own reference photos which I am trying to use all the time now, as I have quite a library of various breeds/mixes. The one thing I am lacking is photos of Wildlife as I don't often get the chance to photo these and then I will look for some in photo resources like Morguefile, but always ask the photographer first if I can use it, and for the most part they are quite agreeable.
      It is also the Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK, so a time to have a bit of R and R, but not for me as I have a pile of ironing the needs doing, a lawn that needs cutting and a car that needs washing !

     
        

Lola Update

Hi all,
     I have finally settled to my desk and started work on Lola, as you can see above. This dog is quite striking in her look and colouring and which is daubed across her many places, along with her quite pale eyes she will be a challenge to do methinks. As always the eyes come first and I am using Prismacolours on white Stonehenge Paper,size 10 x 8 inches.
Jasmine,Burnt Ochre,Raw Umber,Burnt Umber, in Prismas....
Green Gold, Raw Sienna in Derwents and Polys.
I will continue using these and adding more as I go along, building and layering until the right depth is achieved.

Coloured Pencil Love

Hi all,
     First thanks to the gals who made the comments on the new look of this blog, I know that I am going in the right direction now. Since Blogger have bought out the new stand alone pages it seems to have become like a mini website which I think is great, as I spend most of my time here anyways, but I am still editing and making changes and will add in a few new pages as I go along.
   Since the beginning of 2010 I found myself being distracted and pulled away from my main love CPs and Drawing, which in a roundabout way is good because I went off and experimented with different things, found a new love stone painting, and had a sort of busmans holiday! The downside to that is I got overwhelmed and very moody for want of a better word, and found it hard to sit down and complete any one thing, my mind and feelings all over the place. Anyway things came to a head last week, and on a heated discussion with hubby, I sort of exploded with a rush of tears,frustration and emotion and gosh it felt good lol ! To cut a long story short I was trying to spread myself too thin and not spending the time I have to do what I do best and love, which is drawing in coloured pencils. Don't get me wrong I love stone painting but it was taking over my life and my work space, and I just cant have that. So for the time being paints and stones are put away and my desk has returned to its normal look with pencils/paper/sketchbooks/pens/putty rubbers etc which to me is how it should be. I will still do stone painting but not to this degree again.
I also want to do more Wip here on my blog as I feel that this has been neglected as well, the title says it all Art With A Pencil, and I still have much more that I want to share with you all, so without much more ado I am going to start a new WIP of an Italian Bracco called Lola. I took this photo last year at one of my dog shows that I went to, and originally was on the hard drive that I lost earlier on this year, but having emailed this photo to her owner it was kept on the server so I was able to access it. It is not the best pic in the world as she was not so keen on the camera, but it is still usable.

It will be a small size 10 x 8 inches on StoneHenge paper.....just look at that gorgeous face.

Drawings

Hi all

So this is where I am at with this current picture, and am a little stuck as to what to do with the rest of it. It still needs finishing and something extra added to it as well, but am going to leave it for alone for a while until an idea occurs to me.
Not sure what is coming next, but do have a hankering to do something wild,but more than likely it will be a pet of some kind, however I do have quite a few drawings on the board that are still a wip and if I am happy with any of the finished pictures will post one of those up.

Pic Update

Hi all,
       Well after all the madness of the past 10 days, it does seem that my Internet connection is properly fixed so I am quite a happy bunny now, however to make my days that little bit better I would love to have some long term warm sunshine ! It is amazing that it is now May and the UK is still shivering with some strong chilly winds, will Summer ever arrive I ask myself !
      My offline time has been well spent though, painting lots more of new stones and slowly but surely getting to grips with Acrylic Paint, my results from all this will go up on my other blog. On the drawing front I have worked more on this little dog, not as much as I would of liked but it is coming along nicely, but have yet to decide on the background.
    I am finding it weird now that my desk is not just covered in pencils,bits of test papers,etc but tubes of paint and brushes,slate and stones, it is like an invasion of the pencil snatchers !  I suppose I will get used to it in time, but the key to this is to keep it as separate as possible, so no accidents...gosh can you imagine a dollop of paint landing on a finished drawing....noooo too much.

    Hi all,
        After having no Broadband for 11 days now it seems that BT has finally fixed the problem at the exchange, it seemed to be a problem with our line card what ever that may be and would not allow us to log on to the server, however cant say that I fully understand all this and only time will tell if it is properly fixed......looks good so far as I have now been online for a full hour!
    I will try can catch up with everyone and will put up some new work as well, a mixture of drawings and more painted stones/slates.
     My thanks to everyone for their patience.

No Internet

Hi all,
      Just a quickie here, to apologise for no updates as I have had no Internet until now ! It seems that my local exchange has a fault and they are as I type sorting it out, so hopefully back to normal soonish and I will be able to update more then.
